Kreate with Kay Beauty strives to help beauty professionals

Kay Beauty, co-founded by Katrina Kaif in collaboration with Nykaa, is stepping up its game with Kreate with Kay Beauty. It’s a program that gives aspiring makeup artists the break they deserve. Read along to know more.

Kay Beauty partnered with the renowned Daniel Bauer Hair & Makeup Academy and Salaam Bombay Foundation to initiate Kreate with Kay Beauty. This initiative aims to bridge the gap for those with talent and passion but limited access to professional training.

After a rigorous selection process, the brand chose five candidates based on their skills and financial circumstances. For six months, candidates got hands-on training in advanced makeup techniques. They also learned industry best practices, and portfolio building at the Daniel Bauer Academy. Beyond technical skills, the program also gave them insights into working on film and fashion sets. Additionally, they were taught to leverage social media to boost their careers.

Kreate with Kay Beauty is the latest addition to #Kare, the brand’s social impact initiative. It has previously supported rural employment and pandemic relief. This move highlights a growing trend—beauty and fashion brands using their platforms to drive inclusivity and skill development. But the bigger question remains: Can such programs continue to create lasting change across India’s booming beauty industry? With the right push, Kreate with Kay Beauty could be just the beginning of a more accessible future for aspiring makeup professionals.

Hearing the participant’s experiences

Shama Munawwar Ali Shaikh, one of the selected artists, says, “I always wanted to be a makeup artist, but courses were too expensive. Now, I feel confident in my skills. Seeing my parents proud at the graduation ceremony was an unforgettable moment.”

Another participant, Sarita Premsagar Bharti, says, “This training gave me exposure and confidence. I have started working on fashion shoots and assisting makeup artists in film and TV.”

Another participant, Pranali Subhash Goregaonkar, has already started taking professional assignments. She said her ultimate goal is to “start my own makeup academy to help others, just like I was helped.”

From the leadership desk

Speaking about the initiative, Katrina Kaif stated, “We wanted to create a platform where talent is nurtured and opportunities are accessible to all. Seeing these artists refine their craft and step into their potential has been truly inspiring.”

Adwaita Nayar, Executive Director, CEO Nykaa Fashion and Head of Owned Brands, added, “Through Kreate, we aim to empower exceptional talent by giving them the skills and confidence to build sustainable careers.”
