At Professional Beauty India Mumbai 2025, Gamma+ is all set to bring a truly global perspective to the HJ stage with its Heritage Edit. As Aidan Sloan and Priscilla Corner will take over the stage, here’s everything you can expect at the show and the vision behind it.

GAMMA+ Educator & Ambassador (Australia & India) Aidan Sloan and Gamma+ Ambassador (India) Priscilla Corner will bring the Heritage Edit to PBI Mumbai. They will highlight Italian elegance, Indian vibrance, and Australian laid-back flair in a one-of-a-kind showcase. In an exclusive conversation with Vidhi Arya from Professional Beauty India, they share how each culture’s hair traditions inspire their creative process, the challenges of honouring heritage while reimagining it, and what audiences can expect when these three distinct worlds of style meet under one spotlight.

Let’s hear from Aidan Sloan

1. What inspired you both to explore Italian, Indian, and Australian hair traditions for The Heritage Edit at PBI Mumbai?

What inspired me to explore the rich cultures of Italy, India, and Australia is that each one uniquely reflects the core values of what Gamma+ represents.

Italy embodies the elegance, sleekness, and creativity of Gamma+ tools. India, on the other hand, showcases the boldness and outgoing nature of the brand’s equipment. And as an Australian barber myself, I feel I can truly represent how Gamma+ has made a significant impact on the Aussie scene — and why India can expect a similar explosion in the coming years.

2. How do Italian, Indian, and Australian hair aesthetics differ, and how are you interpreting them on stage?

The main differences are clearly reflected in the stereotypical expressions of masculinity within each culture.

Italian men are traditionally sleek, elegant, and classy — and you see that refined style reflected in their grooming. Indian men are bold, loud, and outgoing, which is mirrored in their vibrant fashion trends both inside and outside of the barbershop.

In contrast, Australian hair trends are all about a relaxed, lived-in look. Styles often appear effortlessly done — as if little work has gone into them — yet they still show a strong attention to detail.

3. Which cultural hair element excites you most to showcase on stage? Was there a culture that challenged you more than the others while curating the right looks?

Being Aussie myself, I truly believe there are major differences in how we perceive and express fashion — and that uniqueness can be really beautiful.

One of the more challenging aspects, though, is recreating a classic look, like the one on the Italian model. Styles like that are timeless, and trying to replicate them without reinventing or diminishing their essence can be quite difficult.

4. Can you walk us through your creative process for translating cultural inspiration into a hairstyle?

Cultural inspiration truly comes from within — shaped by a person’s lifestyle, career, hobbies, age, and how they want to be perceived in society. It’s something that transcends cultural boundaries and becomes a powerful way for individuals to express themselves exactly how they want to be seen.

5. What do you want the audience to take away from your segment at PBI Mumbai?

No matter where you come from or what walk of life you’re in, you can proudly represent who you are and the culture you come from. What I truly want is for this to be a beautiful collaboration — a seamless blend of all three cultures — coming together to create something meaningful and inspiring.

Here’s what Priscilla Corner has to say

1. How do you approach interpreting Italian, Indian, and Australian hairstyles for The Heritage Edit at PBI Mumbai?

My approach begins with deep respect for the individuality of each culture’s hair traditions. I try and understand the historical, artistic, and social contexts behind the styles and then reinterpret them through a contemporary lens. Rather than replicating them, I aim to distill the essence of their heritage. Whether it’s the elegance of Italian sculptural form, the intricacies of Indian hair artistry, or the free-spirited minimalism of Australian aesthetics. Then I merge it with my own creative sensibilities.

2. Which culture’s hair techniques did you find most inspiring, and why? Were there any cultural hairstyling elements that challenged you while creating your looks for the show?

As an aesthete with a deep appreciation for all beautiful expressions, choosing one particular culture’s hair technique over another becomes challenging. However, since I have been exposed to Indian hairstyling like traditional braids to ornamental embellishments, from a young age, it carries stories of heritage and identity which resonate with me. The challenge lay in balancing this richness with modern minimalism so that the audience could see heritage reimagined without losing its soul. Italian techniques also demanded precision, while Australian styles pushed me to embrace ease and natural textures in new ways. All cultures with their own unique signature.

3. How do you balance honouring traditional aesthetics while infusing your own creative signature?

I see tradition as a foundational discipline rather than a boundary. By studying the authenticity of each style, I ensure respect for its origin. My creative signature then emerges in how I simplify, layer, or restructure elements so they feel fresh and contemporary. The balance is about preserving the cultural heartbeat while allowing the artistry to evolve with the present.

4. How do you bring the Italian and Australian hair story to the Indian audience? Are there any modifications or adaptations that you undertake?

For the Indian audience, I would like to create a visual and emotional bridge. Italian sophistication and Australian relaxed chic are translated through textures, accessories, and forms that resonate with Indian sensibilities.

5. What emotions or stories do you hope the audience experiences when they see your segment live?

I hope the audience feels a sense of cultural connectedness—that hairstyles are more than trends; they are an experience  of history, beauty, and emotion. I want them to experience pride in their own heritage while appreciating the universality of artistry across cultures. Above all, I hope they leave inspired, seeing hair as a living canvas that carries stories beyond borders.
