India has danced its way to the Oscar at the 95th Academy Awards, with ‘Naatu Naatu’ from RRR winning the award for Best Original Song. Deepika Padukone presented the dance performance of the song that received a standing ovation.
On 12th March 2023, at the stroke of midnight, as the world slept, India witnessed the prestigious victory. The famous song ‘Naatu Naatu’ from SS Rajamouli’s period drama RRR, won the Best Original Song Award at the Oscars 2023. Kartiki Gonsalves’s The Elephant Whisperers won the Best Documentary Short Award.
Deepika Padukone made an appearance at the Oscars for the first time, though she is a regular at the Cannes Film Festival. She looked as alluring as ever in an off-shoulder, floor-length Louis Vuitton gown in black velvet. She gave a beautiful introduction to the ‘Naatu Naatu’ song right before its on-stage adaptation. The performance starred dancer-actor Lauran Gottlieb of the ABCD franchisee fame. Her Oscar debut was also iconic as she is the third Indian actor to present an award at the ceremony.

Deepika’s black gloved hands looked ethereal adorned with the yellow diamond Cartier necklace, matching bracelet, and ring, complementing her elegant ensemble. Moreover, carrying off glamour with a panache that only Deepika can, her eye make-up was a nod to Audrey Hepburn. Contoured cheekbones, even-toned glowing skin and lips in pink nude completed her look. With a messy upstyle helping her maintain her signature look.

The champagne carpet, as it was popularly called, was sparkling with many other eminent personalities from the Indian entertainment industry including RRR stars Ram Charan with his wife Upasana Kamineni and Jr NTR, RRR Director SS Rajamouli with his wife Rama. Shaunak Sen and the cast of All that Breathes, which was nominated in the Best Documentary category, were also there.

Ram Charan and Jr NTR also looked dapper in all-black outfits. Rajamouli also donned Indian wear with a kurta and dhoti. Both Upasana Kamineni and Rama Rajamouli wore traditional Indian sarees.
Hence, it was a beautiful night at the Oscars this year, with Indian stars sparkling and winning all the way.
