A recent study by Traya involving over 500,000 men about hair loss issues has brought to light several disturbing facts. Men are entering the later stages of hair loss because of lack of awareness about the root cause.

The data highlights that 50.31 per cent of Indian men experiencing this hair condition are under the age of 25. As per the study, 25.89 per cent men below the age of 21 are already at Stage 3 and beyond. As the age bracket shifts to 21-25 years old, this number further increases to 33.35 per cent. This internal study was conducted by Traya, an Indian health-tech brand.

As per the study, 65 per cent of Indian men under 25, experiencing loss of hair, suffer from dandruff. This scalp condition leads to itching, inflammation and irritation, ultimately causing this hair condition. Moreover, 6 out of 10 young Indian males who experience this issue have high stress levels.

This study has also brought to light a lesser-known fact. Young men with gastrointestinal issues are also prone to experiencing premature hair loss. The study reveals that 37 per cent men across ages, experiencing loss of hair have compromised gut health. The study delved into the impact of sleep, too. Irregular sleep patterns contribute to this hair concern in 3 out of every 10 young Indian men under the age of 25. It is not merely a physiological condition. It’s a psychological one, too, as it affects your self-esteem and confidence. It can also cause stress, anxiety and emotional distress.

Saloni Anand, Co-Founder, Traya, said that this issue is often seen as a cosmetic concern. However, it is a symptom of internal health issues. Given our modern lifestyle, many young people are facing premature hair loss. They begin seeking solutions only after consistently facing it for a couple of years.

Lack of knowledge about the various stages of hair loss and its root stop people from seeking help sooner. Delay in addressing this problem early may allow it to progress to Stage 5, making reversal challenging especially for hairlines.
