Monsoon Skincare Guide for Fresh, Glowing Skin

The pitter-patter of monsoon is knocking on the door with full force. While this season comes with an enchanting breeze and petrichor, it brings its own set of issues for the skin. Vidhi Arya from Professional Beauty India brings some monsoon skincare tips that are simple yet highly effective for this season.

Monsoon brings a lot of moisture and humidity and causes the skin to become highly susceptible to acne breakouts, fungal infections, and a dull complexion. Hence, it’s crucial to change the skincare to adapt to the skin’s changing needs during the season. Here are some tips one must follow during the season.

Monsoon Skincare Routine

  • Follow a proper cleaning and toning routine

During monsoon, skin can collect impurities and excess oil, thereby clogging the pores. During the season, it’s imperative to cleanse the face two-to-three times a day with a gentle cleanser. Further, that must be followed by a gentle toner to restore the skin’s pH balance, often toppled in the rainy season.

  • Hydration is crucial

Monsoon is full of rain and humidity, however, skin requires ample hydration to remain healthy. Opting for a light, water-based moisturiser is crucial. Suggest your clients to include products with humectants, such as hyaluronic acid and salicylic acid to attract and retain moisture into the skin. While hyaluronic acid will be a good fit for those with dry skin, salicylic acid will be a great pick for oily skin as it will also control acne.

  • Do not skip sun protection

Even though the clouds cover the sky, UV rays will penetrate through it and damage the skin. It is necessary to use a water-proof, light, gel-based SPF to prevent sun damage during monsoon. Suggest your clients to reapply sunscreen every two to three hours.

  • Establish a weekly routine

Even though the clients may be visiting the salon for their monthly skincare treatments, they must establish a proper at-home routine to maintain the results. You can suggest your clients to scrub, steam, and mask every week or every 10 days. This will help unclog blocked pores and remove dead skin cells.

Suggest them mild scrubs, preferably containing exfoliating agents such as AHAs. This will help rejuvenate the skin and make it brighter. Steaming will ease the process of opening up the pores and will suck out the dirt and oil from deep within. Further, an oil-free face mask will help control sebum production and keep acne at bay.

Rainy Season Skincare at Salon

Depending on your client’s skin type, you can suggest a hydrating, detoxifying, or de-tan or brightening facial. Hydrating or detoxifying facials can help the client achieve several benefits during this season. Not only will it help remove the gunk and clean the pores, but it will also replenish the skin and keep it hydrated and glowing. On the other hand, a de-tan or brightening facial will help your client regain the glow that’s often lost during monsoon due to sweat, dirt, and environmental stressors.
