South India’s biggest chain salon and academy launched their 73rd academy outlet in Chennai this April. Priyanka Parshurami from Professional Beauty India, Veena Kumaravel, Founder Naturals Salon and Academy engaged in an exclusive conversation. They spilled beans on the newly launched academy, admission process, evolving beauty education and many more.

About the Naturals Beauty Academy, Chennai:
- Launched Naturals Beauty Academy in the heart of the city on April 4th May, 2023 in Isphani Centre located at Nungambakkam.
- The space is 2500 sq. ft. well defined for a beauty academy.
- The interiors have been done to attract students who want to have a great place to study in a good ambience to do their course.
- This academy has the state of the art with the latest equipment and plush interiors for students to learn in a very comfortable manner with lots of space and well trained and experienced trainers.
Inspiration and Vision of the Naturals Academy:
- We at NBA decided to do this as we not only see an opportunity in this space to train and educate students who could be employed later in any of the salons or go abroad for a job to develop their career.
- The vision as mentioned is to open 100 franchised Academies in the south of India and another 100 in the North of India. We would like to add value to our own salons by training as many students as possible at the same time to provide enough manpower to the entire industry.
- We want to help as many young talents to get jobs for their living and also serve the nation in Skill Development in the Beauty Industry.
Courses Offered and Tie-ups:
- We run the short term and long term courses in Hair, Skin, Makeup and Nails.
- We have regular courses from morning 9.00 AM to 1.00 PM and evening 2.00 PM to 6.00 PM from Monday to Friday and specialised courses on Saturday & Sundays.
- Students can take up any course based on their interest and learn to become a good artist.
- Diploma and Master Diploma Courses are available as a long term course for students who want to study cosmetology.
- We have tied up Zorain from Bangalore, she will do our training in Makeup. We have tied up with TNT for nail training.
- We have also tied up with National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) & B&WSCC Beauty & Wellness Sector Skill Council – New Delhi.
- We will be tying up with International certifying bodies soon to help students.

- Anyone who is interested in pursuing a career in Beauty can join the course.
- Many who are already working in this industry can upgrade their skills by undergoing advanced courses.
- Housewives who want to look at a career can study.
- Any freelancer who wants to increase their skills or earning potential can join the course.

- Education is the only way to increase the skill gap in this industry at this point of time. As mentioned earlier, there is a huge manpower shortage.
- Academy will help this industry to get well trained manpower. In Fact CBSE has already added this in their school curriculum as a skill development program.
- Universities have also come forward to start BSc Cosmetology courses to provide adequate opportunity as a result this industry will be like the IT industry soon.
