The pixie cut is one of the defining hair trends for Autumn-Winter 2025, and Nestor Sanchez from the award-winning HOB Academy breaks down how to achieve this modern, flattering look.
Begin by sectioning the hair, separating the back from the front with a line that travels from the crown to behind each ear. Create a horseshoe section on the top of the head to manage the upper layers. On the side sections, cut a square layer while keeping the sideburn area slightly longer for personalization after drying. This helps remove weight from the sides, giving the pixie a slimmer, contemporary feel.
Next, choose the top layer length to remove internal weight and create corners around the head’s roundness. This ensures enough weight remains for a defined fringe. For the back, take a central profile section from crown to nape, layering it square while projecting sections at 90 degrees. This technique removes bulk from the center while retaining length around the nape perimeter.
Dry the hair with a Vess brush using a wrapping motion, applying a hydrating lotion spray for light hold and root control. Texturize the hair to add an airy, vintage feel. Finally, create a framing fringe from ear to ear, lifting it to 90 degrees and blunt-cutting with texturizing scissors for a strong yet soft outline.
