In the race for sustainability, beauty brands actively promote green development, striving to create eco-friendly products. The Sustainable Beauty Awards 2023, held in Paris, celebrated those pushing sustainability boundaries in the beauty industry. A diverse panel of judges chose the winners. Everyone’s commitment to sustainability was praiseworthy.

WINNERS OF SUSTAINABILITY 

Weleda bagged the New Sustainable Product Award with the Skin Food Facial Cleansing Balm, a 2022 launch boasting organic ingredients, UEBT and Natrue certifications, and climate-neutral status. Apivita secured runner-up with the Beevine Elixir Wrinkle & Firmness Lift Cream, featuring upcycled vine leaves and propolis.

Organic Bioactives from New Zealand won the Sustainable Ingredient Award with the OceanDerMX Lift & Firm Freeze Dried, Preservative Free skincare product, harvested by indigenous Māori women. Taiwan-based ITRI was a runner-up. Their ingredient, I-Proteo is crafted by upcycling pineapple leaves.

DTS Europe claimed the Sustainable Packaging Award for its Pacific pump. The pump design ensures easy recycling. Runner-up MacroHI showcased recycled HDPE packaging for Aromase and juliArt beauty products.

The Sustainability Pioneer Award category had joint winners, AAK Personal Care and Weleda. AAK received recognition for its impactful partnerships. Weleda received high praise for its platinum-certified sustainable logistics centre in Germany. O’ right was the runner-up in this category. The brand’s effort in achieving net-zero carbon emissions was applauded.

Taiwan’s O’ right won the Sustainability Leadership Award. The brand received an accolade for its comprehensive sustainability efforts, utilizing green electricity, sustainable packaging, and formulations with upcycled or natural ingredients. Austrian company Ringana secured the runner-up spot.
