Met Gala, a revered event that leaves behind costume chronicles to discuss for all every year, was back this year on May 6th at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Mesmerised with the evening, Vidhi Arya from Professional Beauty India brings you the best looks from Met Gala 2024 that stole the show.

Inspired by the Museum’s latest exhibition, ‘Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion’, the dress code for the event was ‘The Garden of Time’. The dress code gave the attendees an unmatched opportunity to present their special renditions of ethereal elements that leave people spellbound. Here are some of the best looks at Met Gala that uplifted the evening’s appeal:

Zendaya

Donning a custom Margiela gown by John Galliano, her look incorporated elements of the garden including fruits, birds, and a feather in her hair. The dark ensemble was complemented with a deep violet lip shade and a heavy eyeshadow in crimson hues. She tied back her hair and added a net to complete the look.

Gigi Hadid

Inspired by fresh blooms, fitting in the summer season, Hadid’s outfit was classic yet fresh. The Thom Browne white corset gown featured a long trail with a garden of yellow roses. The gown came to life as a dream team of 70 artisans who spent over 13,500 hours bestowed it with their craft. Hadid paired the look with a short, classic bob, bold red lips, blushing cheeks, and neutral eyes.

Alia Bhatt

As the dress code was ‘Garden of time’, Bhatt chose a timeless attire, a saree with floral accents. The pastel green hand-embroidered saree designed by Sabyasachi Mukherjee featured a striking 23-foot-long train. The Hindi Cinema star completed her look with subtle, neutral makeup featuring kohled eyes. And, her hair further complemented the look. She chose a messy bun with tendrils and topped it with a matha patti.

Isha Ambani

Rahul Mishra designed the custom-made saree gown donned by Ambani. Featuring impeccable hand embroidery and an uber-long train, the gown took over 10,000 man-hours to come to fruition. Ambani opted for a simple up-do with long loose waves. Her neutral, brown-toned makeup and a brown lip gloss sat perfectly well with the colour and finish of the gown.

Nicole Kidman

Kidman’s interpretation of the dress code could have been two-fold. She either took to the dress keeping its timeless appeal in mind or as an ode to the birds that add to the beauty of a garden. Her two-tiered black and white gown by Demna of Balenciaga features a long, feathery black skirt topped with a smooth white upper layer. With hair that was let loose, the makeup was elegant and minimal. She opted for neutral pinks for her lips, cheeks, and also eyes.

Jennifer Lopez

Lopez wore a custom gown by Daniel Roseberry for Schiaparelli Haute Couture. Her sheer gown, inspired by a butterfly, featured an embroidery of pearls and rhinestones. The glittering gown truly embodied the luminous appeal of a butterfly. She added a top bun and messy side tendrils. She completed her look with dewy yet subtle makeup in neutral hues.
