Let Your Festive Makeup Look Be Your Trump Card!

Achieve a festive makeup look like none other!

The festivities are back and so are the many occasions to dress up and look your best. While the ethnic outfits are something we all plan for well in advance, don’t let your makeup take a backseat. In a candid conversation with Vidhi Arya from Professional Beauty India, makeup artist Dhriti Nandwani reveals some easy-to-follow tricks so you can ace your festive makeup look this season.

Setting The Base For Your Festive Makeup Look

“To set your base right, start with the colour corrector to hide your imperfections. For fair skin, I would recommend peach colour and for darker skin, orange. If you use that correctly, you won’t be required to do a lot of makeup and your festive makeup look will be perfect.

Once that is done, use a concealer or a nice coverage foundation and cover the colour-corrected areas. You can also mix it with your serum or your moisturiser to make it a little shear for a natural look. On top of that, for that bright glow, I always recommend using cream blushers that give a natural sheen. And, after all of this, you can powder your face”

For Those Who Like It Chic But Simple

“Simply use any kohl pencil or liner or a coloured liner or shadows as they are very much in trend. It will allow you to add a pop of colour to your eyes. You can also add a little bit of shimmer on the inner corner to keep it festive and yet simple. Also, don’t forget to use a layer of mascara and the nice nude lipstick and just then good to go.”

For The Bold Beauties

“For anyone who likes it bold, what I would suggest is to use a black or brown kohl pencil on your entire eyelid. Further, on top of that add shimmer or eye shadow. When you add shimmer or eyeshadow on a black base, your eyes will pop up. One tip to make your eyes stand out is to add a glitter eyeshadow lighter on the inside and darker on the outside. And, with this, I would only recommend a nude lip. However, you can also flip the switch and keep your eyes subtle and experiment with bold lipsticks. A popping magenta, a deeper maroon, and shades of purple are all trending and look stunning.”

Going With The Gloss Trend

“So, if you are someone who loves lip gloss, I would suggest you just do kohled eyes and a nice layer of mascara. This is very close to the look Alia Bhatt sported in Rocky and Rani. The look is a huge hit! If you want to further accentuate the look, consider lining your bottom and upper waterlines. If you choose to skip a liner, lined upper waterlines are a great way to make your eyes look stunning. One with you must remember with gloss is it might last the night, so use a nice lipstick underneath and be open to re-applying your gloss, as and when required.”

Quick Tips to Ace the Festive Makeup Look

“If you do not want to accentuate the eye, what you can do is take a little black-brown powder of your brow’s colour and smudge it on the lower lash line from the outside. Just take it up to make it a little wing. It makes your eyes really attractive! Another tip is to use a lot of highlighter on your cheek and the bridge of your nose to have a festive glow.”
